God in the big blue heaven<\/p>\n

Looked on the watery waves,<\/p>\n

Lapping around the islands<\/p>\n

And said ‘So they think Jesus saves.<\/p>\n

I’m putting my trust in Ronaldo,<\/p>\n

Even Kane’s more likely to score.<\/p>\n

I’ve decided to cancel Christmas,<\/p>\n

And not be doing it anymore’.<\/p>\n

Firstly, God started with carols<\/p>\n

and came up with quite a list<\/p>\n

of things not to sing in December,<\/p>\n

even if you are pissed.<\/p>\n

Some were all high notes and tricky,<\/p>\n

like Hark the herald angels don\u2019t sing;<\/p>\n

Or shepherds don\u2019t watch their flocks by night;<\/p>\n

and more of that kind of thing.<\/p>\n

Eventually it came down to the Bible,<\/p>\n

\u2018The virgin shall not bear a son\u2019<\/p>\n

It hurt so to cross it out;<\/p>\n

it was always God\u2019s favourite one.<\/p>\n

That moment in Magnificat splendour<\/p>\n

when Mary, so full of grace,<\/p>\n

says yes to God\u2019s timeless promise<\/p>\n

and all glory lights up her face.<\/p>\n

God put down the chunky blue crayon<\/p>\n

used to edit the text,<\/p>\n

and refused to go any further:<\/p>\n

\u2018They\u2019ll want to cancel Easter next!\u2019<\/p>\n
